Mud fever is an infection that comes from bacteria, fungi, mites and more. It can occur due to an excessively humid environment and small scratches in which bacteria grow.
For the treatment of Mud fever we recommend that you start by brushing. mud and dirt away - The area should be relatively clean and dry.
Apply KovaLine OW ointment on clean and dry legs. Check if necessary with paper towel that the area is completely dry before application
The procedure is continued once a day until the skin is in balance. When the skin is ready the wound will fall off by itself - Do not try to remove the wound before the skin is ready or the infection may flare up again.
The days of treatment vary according to environment, health, feed and treatment history. We also recommend proper diet and nutrition as well as supplementation of zinc in the feed.
If there is no improvement with KovaLine within 2-4 weeks, contact your veterinarian as further medical treatment may be needed.
It is advisable to contact the veterinarian in all cases of doubt
Mud fever can also be mistaken for SKAB (mites, Chorioptes Equi) and photosensitization. Of course it is important to get the correct diagnosis as the treatment is different.
